Adobe Illustrator Scanner Smoosh

The assignment was to create a warning label for myself, then an expressive word, non expressive word and an abstract one by using Adobe Illustrator. My warning label took a lot of time to create the rabbit because it had to be made with a bunch of shapes. I took so much time doing this one that my other few projects weren't as well done. I just messed around and made a cat and a frog out of the letters that make up their words.

Snow

Thursday night I had to leave right after my 3D class to go to a concert and realized that my key was gone. That was really fun running around retracing my steps while my friend's mom was nice enough to drop me off at the concert. I never found my key ah. So now I get to pay 100 dollars to get my lock replaced with a new one and new keys made! Oh well on a better note, I did get to see Minus the Bear at Croc Rock. It was awesome! A lot of violent pushing and such, especially for calmer music like Minus the Bear, but it was definitely worth it.

After watching the video of Chinatown in class, I was pumped to go see the new year festivities in person last weekend . . . and then Philly was buried in a bagillion feet of snow. It was weird seeing that much snow in the city. Philadelphia almost didn't know how to deal with it. There was this group of people outside of their building on Broad clearing the snow away. Which wouldn't be such a weird thing except it seemed that every single employee was outside. There must have been about thirty of them all trying to shovel at the same time, but getting in each other's way. It was pretty funny to watch, more so then the supposed snowball fight on Liacouras. A mass text message was sent out, supposedly every dorm for themselves on Liacouras at 2:30 pm. It consisted of about three people messing around, I was disappointed.

Mondays are usually not so great but I just found out that my 2D class is cancelled for today!!!!! woo hooO!

Ravin Agrawal: 10 young Indian artists to watch

I watched this video on TED about contemporary Indian Artists. This video was pretty interesting because I never really looked at Indian Art much before and I find that I enjoy it. The first artist that was talked about made a bunch of multicolored circles in honor of the dots that women wear on their foreheads in their culture. She then applied them to the fiberglass sculptures that she creates.

There is another artist towards the end where the artist uses porcupine quills to apply metallic industrial paints to create these super detailed paintings. The picture to the left is an example of this artist's work. I've never seen anyone work with a porcupine quill and I wonder if that's something that could be ordered online... hmm...

Adventure to Make Eggplant Parm at UARTS!

My friends Rachel and Kate agreed to come with me on this quest to Center City.

The first thing we did was get art supplies from Utrecht and Blick.

I have a friend Sam Reedy who attends UARTS. We agreed a while ago that we would make Eggplant Parmesan. Sam met us at Blick and from there we went on our way to the Reading Terminal Market.

On our way there we saw a hardcore, gourmet cupcake shop. All the cupcakes were behind glass cabinets and

there was a crazy mannequin in the window who wore an apron-like dress with a cupcake pattern.

The prices of the cupcakes weren't entirely ridiculous, you could get one for $3. We resisted the beautiful cupcakes

and continued on our way.

We then ran into the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society. The building is amazing. It has a giant glass dome on the top

of it where there is a garden. We wandered in and ended up seeing the garden.

It was really nice being there, the lights were dim and the sun was just setting. When we looked down there were

kites hanging above the stairs and a bunch of statues on the second level.

We left the garden in time to finally make it to the Reading Terminal Market. There we found the ingredients we needed

to make the Eggplant Parm. Well everything but the Parmesan cheese! The first store we tried failed us but the second

store was a success! Back in Sam's apartment we cooked the eggplant and then later had Nutella and croissants.

I give this an A+ night, beats J&H or SAC food for dinner.
